You're already more than enough. Discover how to genuinely embrace the belief that you are enough as you are.
Word of the Week: Enough
No need to prove. Make the next move.
You've probably already heard this one before: You are enough.
Do you believe it?
When I first came across this mantra, I was at a point in my life where I was completely overwhelmed by saying "yes" to everything that came my way. But when I read these three words, it changed everything. This sentence transformed the way I thought about my busy life; it changed the way I thought about myself.
Growing up, I always felt the pressure to prove myself to EVERYONE. It felt like I was competing with my previous day's or year's performance in school and in sports. I overachieved and over-excelled because I thought that's what I had to do. Nobody told me differently.
I didn't know then what I know now: The job of a lifetime is to take care of my mind, body and spirit, and prioritize my needs first.
"I am enough" taught me that I didn't actually have to prove myself over and over again. That was a story I was telling myself. I could still apply effort but not push myself so much to my limit that I was disregarding my self-care.
If you find yourself judging and comparing yourself to other people or to a younger version of yourself, please know that you are enough just as you are. Accepting yourself as your are is a practice, so be patient with yourself. Once you adopt this shift in thinking, you can move past anything that stands in your way on your path of growth and love.
