Word of the Week: Inspire

Find what moves and stirs your soul. Do it so your heart is full.

One of my favorite words is inspire. This word is full of possibilities.

Staying inspired fuels my creativity and what I share with you as a yoga teacher, author and speaker.

Want to know what inspired me to write my first book, 108 Yoga and Self-Care Practices for Busy Mamas? Read the story behind the book on the MSI Press blog. I bet you can probably guess what it is.

Here are two other sources of inspiration in my life:

  • Ayurveda: Ayurveda inspires my self-care. I have been studying Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science and one of the world’s oldest medical systems, for many years. Ayurveda means "science of life." I love how Ayurvedic wisdom from 5,000 years ago still applies to a busy, modern lifestyle. Some of my favorite Ayurvedic routines are tongue scraping, drinking warm water with lemon in the morning and Abhyanga (self-massage with oil).

  • Nature: Nature inspires my outlook. How could you not be inspired when you look outside? A blanket of shimmering snow can inspire bundling up indoors with cozy covers while sipping tea and reading an uplifting book. Vibrant green grass and trees can encourage getting a closer look at the earth on a summer afternoon. A star-speckled sky can inspire a sense of wonder and aww. With nature, we have a lifetime of inspiration.

Who and what inspire you? How do you inspire other people?

You probably inspire other people without even knowing it. Your inspiration might be found in the kindness you show to others or the graceful way you respond to a stressful situation. Whatever it is, there is a high likelihood that you’re inspiring people to take a positive action in their own lives.
